Class Overview

Parent & Tot introduces toddlers to structured movement in a safe, engaging, relationship-centered environment.

The goal is movement confidence, coordination development, and positive first gym experiences.

Developmental Objectives (VERY IMPORTANT)

Child should develop:

• Basic balance awareness
• Beginning climbing confidence
• Two-foot jumps
• Grip strength through hanging
• Following simple one-step directions
• Comfort exploring with parent nearby

Parent should:

• Assist without over-helping
• Encourage independence
• Model enthusiasm
• Celebrate effort

This prevents pressure and frustration.

Coaching Cues (Use with Parents)

Keep cues short and positive.

Common Challenges & Fixes

Issue: Child clings to parent
→ Fix: Start with parallel play. Build comfort slowly.

Issue: Child runs between stations
→ Fix: Keep rotations short (2–3 minutes max).

Issue: Parent over-assists
→ Fix: Say: “Let’s see what they can do!”

Issue: Meltdown
→ Fix: Offer choice between two stations.

Safety & Structure Notes

• Equipment low and stable.
• No inversion beyond gentle wedge rolls.
• Clear walking paths.
• Fast transitions.
• No forced participation.

Safety = supervision + simplicity.

30-Minute Class Schedule

Structure must be predictable. Toddlers thrive on rhythm.

0:00–3:00 – Welcome Circle

• Hello song
• Name recognition
• Big Stretch
• Jump together

Set tone: High energy + warm connection.

3:00–8:00 – Guided Warm-Up Movement

Animal walks
• Bear crawl
• Frog jumps
• Tiptoe walks

Bubble chase or music freeze game

Goal: elevate heart rate + engage attention.

8:00–20:00 – Exploration Circuit (Main Block)

Set up 4–5 stations:

1️⃣ Low balance beam walk
2️⃣ Soft block climb & step down
3️⃣Trampoline (two-foot jumps only)
4️⃣ Tunnel crawl
5️⃣ Wedge roll (assisted forward roll)

Rotate every 2–3 minutes.

Coach rule:
Keep pace moving. Do not let stations stall.

20:00–25:00 – Skill Focus Moment

Choose ONE simple focus:

• Assisted forward roll down wedge
• Bar hang (parent support)
• Balance freeze challenge

Keep reps quick and positive.

25:00–28:00 – Confidence Builder

High-five line
Sticker or stamp
“Show me your strong arms!” moment

Every child leaves feeling successful.

28:00–30:00 – Goodbye Routine

Goodbye song
Parent reminder
Positive reinforcement

End before attention drops.

Always finish on a high note.

Conditioning (Play-Based)
